for traverso, alto recorder, “baroque” oboe and percussion
My fascination with the culture of the Navajo Native Americans and their healing ceremonies based on harmony and beauty motivated me to listen to ethnographic recordings of their songs, which are customarily accompanied by rattles and drums. A number of these songs inspired me to create two works for different instrumental ensembles for students at the Conservatoire de Versailles. Both pieces represent miniature versions of ceremonial events. Thierry Pécou
