Saga

Kurt Gäble has combined medieval sounds and contemporary modern tonal language in "Saga". In this way he wants to represent musically how two people stand to each other, to the world and to their creator. Their searching and finding, their joy, their dreams and amazement are the central contents of this composition.

The majestic introduction is followed by a cheerful, melodious part with very medieval sections, partly tutti, partly solo. The following slower part radiates calm and sublimity. Loud timpani beats and brass sounds suddenly interrupt this peace - and then make room again for a lyrical part with soloistic baritone / tenor horn and intermediate melodies in the wood. This part increases in high brass and trombones to a full sounding forte. A cheerful Vivo leads again to medieval sounds, but determined by modern rhythms. And finally "Saga" ends with a lively furioso.
