Bad Orb Impressions
Concert and Contest Collection CBHA
The inspiration for this three-part work goes back to the International Wind Music Festival of the Youth of Europe, of which Jacob de Haan was the patron on several occasions. It begins at a festive marching tempo, followed by sacred music, instrument groups playing off stage and a little march for brass and flutes. The third movement is a parade in which the divided orchestra moves onto the stage from different directions. Even without the effective positioning of the musicians, "Call of the Valley" is an impressive wind orchestra work.
