A composer much in demand in Canada and the United States, Mathieu Lussier’s catalogue of approximately 30 works includes "Bassango" and "Valstango", for bassoon quartet, recorded by the Toronto Caliban Quartet for the Swedish label BIS International, as well as "Five Caprices for bassoon" which were the subject of a master class at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Philadelphia following their recording by bassoonist Nadina Mackie. Mathieu Lussier has received commissions from artists Nadina Mackie Jackson, Guy Few, Lise Beauchamp, George Zukerman as well as from the American Wind Symphony Orchestra, the Oshawa-Durham Symphony Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and "les Idées Heureuses".
Mathieu Lussier’s music has been recorded on numerous occasions and is broadcast all around the world. "Dos Tropicos", a wind quintet written in 2001, has been performed over a 100 times in Canada, in Europe and in the United Kingdom. Lussier’s works are published by Trevcomusic in Florida and a recent work, Nightfall op.28, has been published by the prestigious editor C.F. Peters of New-York. In August 2009, Bassango, in its version for bassoon and string orchestra, won the 3rd prize in the Contemporary Classical Song category at the Just Plain Folks Awards of Nashville, Tennessee.
